![]() Did you know that residential recycling can benefit Hedgcoxe? The more you increase your recycling efforts at home, the better opportunity our school has to earn the Recycling Incentive
Program award money from the City of Plano. The city keeps track of the
percentage of recycling in each neighborhood. The increased recycling
efforts in our neighborhood will benefit our school and our planet.
Please spread the word to your neighbors and encourage them to increase
their residential recycling too. Recycling adds up! So, this holiday season, as you increase your cooking with delicious meals and treats, please consider if any of those discard items are recyclable. By recycling, you will cut down on the amount of trash going to our landfills. Consider placing a separate trash can in your home designated for recycling. At our house, we have two cans in our kitchen. One is designated for trash and one for recycling. It is amazing how easy it is to recycle discards when you have a handy place to put them. (I keep a paper sack in the recycling bin since paper is also recyclable.) Did you know that you can receive a second recycling can from the City of Plano for your home for FREE? Yes, you can. Call the city at 972-769-4150 to ask for your second can to be delivered today! Have a save and wonderful holiday season! ~ Tania Bailey, Environmental Chair at Environment@HedgcoxePTA.org Kids for

- Kids for saving the earth (KSE)![]() We believe that teaching our children the importance of good stewardship of our planet is invaluable. We offer after-school events to teach students various forms of recycling with the main message of Reduce, Recycle, Reuse. We reinforce this message with classroom presentations, an interactive butterfly garden, by organically recycling in the cafeteria, and by hosting a Clean Hedgcoxe event—where our families help to clean the school grounds and surrounding areas. Through education and promotional events, we share the message of
recycling with our students and encourage them to implement these
practices at home. Through our efforts, and the support of our
Hedgcoxe families, we were able to increase our volume of residential
recycling last year by 10%. Last year, this program helped our
community and raised $1000 for Hedgcoxe!
