in 2007-2008
On May 24, Hedgcoxe chess participated in the 2008 Texas State and Amateur Championships, One Day Scholastic event. The team of Naeel Chowdhury, Snigdha Sinha & Reetu Sinha took
3rd place in the K-12 Under 750 division. In addition, Snigdha placed
3rd, Reetu placed 6th and Naeel got Honorable Mention.
Congratulations to these two outstanding Hedgcoxe artists:
Karen Chen and Hannah Mitchell of 2nd grade. Karen and Hannah's artworks were selected to hang on the walls of
PISD’s Cox Building for the East Cluster Art Exhibit. Karen's
artwork is a painting in the style of Faith Ringgold. Hannah's artwork
is a colorful abstract landscape. Both artworks were executed with
superb craftsmanship and creativity! Their artwork will be on display
at the Cox Building located at 1517 Avenue H in downtown Plano until
May 12th.

Congratulations to Michaela Levy in 1st grade and Sara Nasserzadeh in
3rd grade! Michaela and Sara were selected to represent Hedgcoxe at the
district-wide Youth Art Month display at the Sockwell Center of PISD.
Michaela's artwork on display is an under-the-sea collage in the style
of book illustrator, Eric Carle. Sara's artwork is a "Silly" portrait
done in colored pencil.
Both artworks were executed with superb craftsmanship and creativity!
Their artwork will be on
display at the Sockwell Center until April 28th.
Way to go Sara and Michaela!

Hedgcoxe Chess sent players to the Region III
Scholastic Championships at UTD on Saturday, February 9th.
In the Elementary division, John Lance took 10th.
In the Elementary U800 (under 800 USCF rating) division, Reetu Sinha
took 1st, Bradley Hobert took 2nd, and Snigdha Sinha took 6th. As a
team they took 1st!
In the K-1 division, Ethan Benavides took 10th.
In the unrated division, Armon Kaviani took 5th.
Also representing Hedgcoxe were Naeel Chowdhury, Nathan
Kuhn, and Connie Chen.

Ohio, the nation’s largest school selection consulting firm.
Only
16 percent of the nation’s 15,571 public school districts

have been recognized for meeting the needs of families choosing schools
through the consulting company.
Expansion Management Magazine ‘Gold Medal’ Rating
A business magazine for companies actively seeking to expand or
relocate their facilities, Expansion Management magazine named Plano
ISD among 2,800 school districts across the U.S. to earn a
“Gold
Medal” rating through its 16th Annual Education Quotient
ratings.
The magazine evaluates districts based on graduate outcomes, the
community’s support of education and adult education/
income.

1st in State, Novice Division (2007)
Hedgcoxe is the only elementary school in PISD that has a Junior FFA (Future Farmers of America) member, Kali Kubes.
She will be raising breeding rabbits to show. There are over 80 FFA
students in PISD who have livestock in the PISD barns on Alma. All
Hedgcoxe families are invited to the FFA's largest fundraiser event
benefiting the PISD FFA students at the Collin County Junior Livestock
show in January.
